Racing returns to Morganton, N.C.'s Horsepower Park
For many years the dirt track located at the now-known HorsePower Park NC in Morganton, NC was a staple in the dirt track racing community. Known for its high-speed straightaways and challenging corners the former “Antioch Speedway” provides exciting action no matter what hits the track.
In 2024, racing will return to “North Carolina’s Fastest ½ Mile” under a new name: The Speedway at HorsePower Park. With the new name also comes new management for the 2024 season. A team of dirt track enthusiasts with decades of experience operating successful venues is excited to bring life back to one of North Carolina’s hidden gems.
While the 2024 season is still months away; The schedule of events is being worked on and will be published as soon as possible, improvements are being made to The Speedway to help traffic flow and better the fan experience, and all the final touches are being made on our website for its launch in the near future.
“We’re excited to work with Kaila and Paul at the venue to bring back racing, in a big way, to The Speedway,” said Ben Kilcrease, the new General Manager at The Speedway at HorsePower Park. “My team and I are dedicated to making 2024 at The Speedway one of, if not the biggest years in its storied history.”
“We are putting in a lot of work and effort,” he continued, “So the support of our community will be crucial to the success. We know dirt track fans in the area missed having their local track and that’s one reason why we moved forward with plans to re-open this amazing facility.”
