IndyCar race at Nashville shortened, postponed to Monday due to weather
IndyCar’s Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix at Nashville Superspeedway has been postponed until Monday due to bad weather. It is now set for a 3 p.m. ET (2 p.m. local) start.
As a result of scorching temperatures in the region, the race distance has been reduced from 300 to 225 laps. Record temperatures and a heat index over 100 degrees are expected for the event.
The race had been due to start shortly after the conclusion of the FIFA World Cup Final, but the event was already under a weather hold due to lightning before the match ended.
That was followed by rain showers, although the track was close to dry before another, heavier downpour arrived just before 8 p.m. local time.
Andretti Global’s Kyle Kirkwood will start the race from pole position.
