AJ Foyt Racing adds junior open wheel link
AJ Foyt Racing’s return to junior open-wheel racing with its two-car Indy NXT effort run by HMD Motorsports has been an instant success that’s led to a further expansion into the space with Crosslink Motorsports.
Adding to Foyt’s new NXT pipeline which has seen Argentina’s Alessandro de Tullio (pictured above) take three poles and a win from four races, the legendary IndyCar team will work with Crosslink to build its driver development offerings into the lower rungs of the ladder in the Formula 4 U.S. Championship and Formula Regional Americas Championship.
“Driver development has always been an important part of motorsports, and we’re excited to partner with Crosslink Motorsports to increase our commitment in that area,” Foyt president Larry Foyt said of the team owned by Gill Kaszuba. “Gill and his team have done an excellent job developing young drivers, and this partnership allows us to connect those emerging talents with opportunities in Indy NXT and eventually the IndyCar Series. It’s about building the future of the sport.”
Crosslink’s drivers will be welcomed into Foyt’s program to learn from its engineers and other staff members as they progress upwards in the sport.
“We’ve always believed strongly in developing drivers the right way, both on and off the track,” Kaszuba said. “This partnership with AJ Foyt Racing creates an incredible opportunity for young drivers coming through the FIA ladder system to have a clear vision of where their careers can go. AJ Foyt Racing has one of the most respected names in motorsports, and we’re proud to align with them to help identify and prepare the next generation of professional drivers.”
