WRC Promoter awarded FIA Three-Star Environmental Accreditation
WRC Promoter has been awarded FIA Three-Star Environmental Accreditation, the top tier within the FIA’s environmental framework and a recognition of best practice in structured environmental management and continual improvement.
The certification follows a renewal audit conducted on 5 December 2025, which assessed WRC Promoter’s alignment with the FIA Environmental Certification Framework and the effectiveness of its Environmental Management System. The auditor’s report highlighted WRC Promoter’s clear environmental policy, defined responsibilities and strong senior management involvement, backed by targets that are tracked and reviewed regularly.
“Achieving FIA Three-Star Environmental Accreditation is an important milestone for us,” said Bernhard Hafenscher, WRC Promoter’s Innovation & Sustainability Lead, who led the renewal process. “It reflects the work happening across our operations and with our partners to manage impact responsibly, and it gives us a strong platform to keep improving.”
The audit scope covered activities under WRC Promoter’s operational and managerial control linked to the promotion, coordination and commercial management of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC). This included event coordination, media production and related logistics, international and domestic travel, procurement and supplier management, and environmental performance monitoring and reporting.
Key strengths from the report also mentioned a strong focus on carbon management and sustainable mobility, and the integration of environmental considerations into supplier and partner management to help address indirect impacts across events and logistics.
The accreditation supports WRC Promoter’s wider Beyond Rally programme, an innovation and sustainability platform designed to accelerate progress through collaboration. Beyond Rally connects stakeholders from across the WRC, the FIA European Rally Championship (ERC), and the wider rally and off-road landscape, bringing together championships, organisers and manufacturers to work on shared sustainability priorities.
The Beyond Rally programme provides a shared space for knowledge sharing and upskilling the community on state-of-the-art sustainability topics. Topics covered by the program include CO₂ footprint tracking, mitigation planning, accreditation pathways and the exchange of best practices across the sport.
Beyond Rally drives the agenda on innovation, sustainability and inclusion in the sport, supporting the targets set by FIA for the World and Regional Rally Championships. A good example of sustainability and innovation coming together is the use of 100% advanced sustainable fuel. First pioneered in WRC in 2022, it is now mandated by FIA for all championship-registered competitors in both the WRC and ERC, reinforcing the drive to combine performance with responsibility.
With the Three-Star status secured, WRC Promoter will continue strengthening its environmental performance across the championship’s global footprint, helping to shape a more sustainable sporting environment.
