SunCoast Performance is set to make a major impact at SEMA and PRI 2025, unveiling its latest advancements for Ford and GM’s 10-speed transmission platforms. These newly engineered systems — including the SunCoast 10R140 Pro Loc Valve Body and Pump Assembly and the SunCoast 10L1000 High-Capacity “E” Clutch Drum — represent the culmination of years of research, testing, and real-world data gathered from our in-house Hydra-Test dyno.
These developments continue SunCoast’s commitment to improving performance, reliability, and drivability across today’s most advanced transmission platforms.
The 10R140 Platform – Engineered for Power and Precision

While the 10R140 is a sophisticated design, real-world demands have revealed common issues such as pressure loss, erratic clutch engagement, and heat-related wear. SunCoast’s updated Pro Loc Valve Body and Pump Assembly directly addresses these weaknesses with several key enhancements:
- Increased line pressure by up to 60 PSI for greater clutch clamping force
- 250% improvement in lube circuit pressure, reducing frictional heat and wear
- 33% faster clutch engagement for quicker, smoother shifts
- Enhanced torque converter clutch (TCC) control, minimizing slip and degradation
Each 10R140 unit is built with Raybestos GPZ friction material, proven to withstand extreme stress, heat, and load — increasing torque capacity and longevity by over 20% compared to OE components. The design also improves the durability of the problematic “E” and “F” clutch assemblies, increasing clutch count and heat dissipation capacity.
The 10L1000 Platform – Strength for the Next Generation

Key advancements include:
- 29% greater clutch capacity than OEM (15% more than any aftermarket design)
- Billet apply piston with enlarged diameter for even pressure distribution
- Raybestos GPZ clutches for superior friction stability under load
- 4140 steel dowel engagement system, replacing weaker cast aluminum for durability
The SunCoast 10L1000 Pro Loc Valve Body complements the clutch assembly by optimizing hydraulic control. Lock-up apply time has been reduced significantly, line pressure has been increased up to 60 PSI, and lube pressure has been elevated from 6 PSI to 20 PSI — a 250% improvement for better cooling and lubrication under demanding conditions.
These upgrades result in shorter shift times, higher clutch life, and more efficient torque transfer — essential for both heavy-duty towing and high-performance builds.
