SCORE International names Daniel Gonzalez Technical Director - to focus on UTV classes

The new era of SCORE International continues, with the arrival of Daniel Gonzalez to the technical director staff of SCORE, focusing on UTV classes, starting with the 57th BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 500. He will bring his UTV experience to ensure the rules for each class are clear and to assist UTV drivers in the different races of the 2025 SCORE World Desert Championship.

Gonzalez, San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora, has over 10 years of experience in UTVs as a driver and team manager. He participated in the 2024 Dakar Rally, completing all stages in the deserts of Saudi Arabia. He mentioned that his focus will solely be on UTVs, supporting SCORE’s technical directors, Dan Cornwell and Federico Montes, with rules and technical inspections.

During the 52nd season of SCORE International, SCORE President and Race Director Jose A. Grijalva welcomed Daniel Gonzalez, recognizing his passion and dedication to Off-Road. “Daniel is someone who loves this sport, it’s in his blood. Having him at SCORE is a privilege, as we always aim to provide the best support for our drivers, not only during the races but throughout the year, with the help of a UTV specialist like him.”

Part of Daniel Gonzalez’s duties will include inspecting the various UTVs in each class during the tech inspection at each SCORE International race for the remainder of the 2025 SCORE World Desert Championship, ensuring there are no technical regulation issues in the following classes: Pro UTV Open, Pro UTV FI, Pro UTV NA, Pro UTV Stock, and Sportsman UTV.

A major achievement in Daniel Gonzalez’s career was winning the SCORE Championship in the 2022 season in the Pro UTV Stock class, alongside the late Anibal Lopez, while studying in schools in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico.

Gonzalez participated in the Pro UTV NA and Pro UTV Stock classes in SCORE International and was a member of the official factory Polaris Mexico team, an experience he considers very valuable. “I learned a lot during those years with Polaris. It was an-honor as a Mexican and Latino to be part of their Off-Road program, winning several races with different promoters of this sport, and focusing on contributing to the safety of participants.”

“I’ll be looking at all the points in the rules for each UTV class, working closely with the mechanics and UTV racers, not to change the rules, but to make the technical standards clearer, to see what can be allowed in each class. I’ll share this information with the racers so they can approach the tech inspection without any issues. Any doubts or questions, they can reach out to me by phone, email, or in person.”
