Recent flooding won't impact Milwaukee IndyCar race
Heavy rains last weekend in the greater Milwaukee area brought severe flooding to the Wisconsin State Fair Park which plays host to next week’s IndyCar Series race.
The onrush of water filled the tunnel that runs beneath Turn 4 at the Milwaukee Mile and was more than a foot deep in some areas of the track as attendees leaving the state fair were seen driving through temporary rivers that reached their car doors.
With the storms having passed and the water receding, the August 23-24 IndyCar Snap-on Milwaukee 250 is moving forward as scheduled.
“Throughout last weekend, IndyCar checked in with the operations staff at Wisconsin State Fair Park,” the series said in a Tuesday update. “Our understanding is that there is no damage to the track, however we are planning to send a crew this week to confirm. In the meantime, the Wisconsin State Fair Park is pivoting from the state fair to hosting IndyCar as scheduled. We will remain in constant communication with their staff and look forward to a return to the historic Milwaukee Mile next week for the penultimate races of the 2025 NTT IndyCar Series and Indy NXT by Firestone seasons.”
