Indy 500 draws most viewers in 18 years in FOX debut
The first Indianapolis 500 aired on FOX produced a vast year-over-year increase as Sunday’s race won by Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou was watched by an average of 7,050,000 million viewers, the race’s largest audience in 18 years when 7,245,000 watched Ganassi’s Scott Dixon win in 2008.
The FOX broadcast was up 40.3 percent over the 5,024,000 viewers who watched last year on NBC and peaked at 8,438,000 viewers at the end of the 200-lap contest.
