GMS Race Cars acquires SRX assets

GMS Race Cars will announce today the acquisition of assets from Ray Evernham Enterprises, which will include those used for the Superstar Racing Experience (SRX).

The vehicle fleet will include 16 fully assembled SXR race cars, a comprehensive suite of pit equipment, race day infrastructure, and other spare parts. However, it will not include the SRX brand, trademarks, or any future broadcast rights, and GMS has no affiliation with the operations of the SRX.

“These race cars were built to an incredibly high standard by Ray, with durability, drivability, and performance in mind,” said GMS Race Cars president Joey Cohen. “Our team sees a huge opportunity to take these vehicles into a new era – repurposing them for premium track-day experiences, turnkey customer programs, and specialty racing events across the country. The possibilities are endless.”

Evernham and Tony Stewart founded SRX, a made-for-television operation that ran from 2021 to 2023. The series used identically built race cars and featured many of the biggest-name drivers from across the motorsports landscape, as well as bringing in many grassroots racing stars. However, due to “market factors,” the series was indefinitely postponed before the 2024 season.

“It’s incredibly gratifying to see these cars live on in a new format,” Evernham said. “We built them to be durable, racy, and fun – whether in the hands of champions or first-timers. GMS Race Cars is the perfect group to carry that torch forward and put smiles on a whole new generation of drivers.”

GMS Race Cars is a manufacturer and engineering company in partnership with GMS Fabrication. The company offers chassis builds, vehicle setup, engineering data, and customer support.
