Genesis unveils new Magma GT3 concept car

Korean manufacturer Genesis showed off a brand-new Magma GT3 Concept car on the eve of its Le Mans 24 Hours debut.

At a press conference held at the Circuit de la Sarthe, Genesis Magma Racing team principal Cyril Abiteboul and Genesis chief creative officer Luc Donckerwolke introduced its new car, not based on an existing road model, which has been designed to the GT3 regulation set.

While the concept has been shown at the Le Mans 24 Hours (and pictured on Goodyear LMGT3 tires), very little has been said at this early stage about Genesis’ plans for the car and GT3 customer program ambitions. It hasn’t, for instance, confirmed whether it plans to debut the car in its final homologated form in the associated FIA World Endurance Championship.

“The Genesis Magma GT3 Concept is one potential future direction for Genesis Magma Racing, alongside our FIA World Endurance Championship Hypercar program, as we continue to grow in support of the Genesis brand,” said Abiteboul. “From the outset, we have stated that Genesis Magma Racing is a long-term project, and this concept represents one possible avenue for future expansion. Like Hypercar, GT3 has become one of motorsport’s great recent success stories.

“Having Genesis and Genesis Magma Racing represented in GT3 would create a closer connection between the road-going and racing sides of the brand while further strengthening our profile in world motorsport.”

During the same press conference, Genesis also showcased the Magma GT Concept, first revealed in November alongside the GV60 Magma, with an all-new interior.
