Ford developing Mustang GT3 EVO update for 2026

Ford Racing (formerly Ford Performance) revealed it is developing an EVO kit for its Mustang GT3 platform, slated for debut in 2026.

“Whether we are producing cars for the track or for the road, Ford Racing is always striving to exceed our customers’ expectations,” said Alex Allmandinger, Ford Racing global sports car manager.

“We are continuing to build upon the success of the Mustang GT3 platform with an EVO package for 2026, pushing development and continued improvement for our teams and partners. As we celebrate 125 years since Ford’s first race win, we remain committed to competing at the highest level.”

Ford's Mustang GT3 made its debut back in 2024 at the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona and endured a challenging first season racing globally. The car suffered from several reliability issues, some of which were addressed via a mid-season "erratum" fix, first revealed by RACER, which made key improvements to the deck lid and diffuser.

The 2025 season saw the Mustang GT3 take further steps forward, with the factory team run by Multimatic in IMSA’s GTD Pro class winning the Daytona 24 back in January. The car enjoyed a strong showing on its Nürburgring 24 Hour debut too, with partner outfit Haupt Racing Team finishing fourth overall and first in SP9 Pro/Am in the event.

Ford's LMGT3 program with Proton Competition also saw an uptick in form in 2025, with the No. 88 finishing second at Spa, improving on the German team’s previous best result of third at Le Mans a year prior. However, the team’s visits to Bahrain at the tail end of 2024 and Qatar in 2025 were heavily impacted by fires.

In addition to Multimatic, Proton and HRT’s programs with the Mustang GT3 platform, Gradient Racing and Dollahite Racing also compete with examples in IMSA and GT World Challenge America, respectively.

Ford is set to supply further information and images of the EVO in due course.
