FIA approves increased soft tire allocation for WRC Rally Chile Bio Bío

On every FIA World Rally Championship round, competitors receive a 'first choice' tyre compound and can also select a limited number of 'alternative choice' tyres from their 28-tyre allocation. For Chile, Hankook’s hard compound Dynapro R213W WRC3 is the first choice, with the soft compound Dynapro R213 WRC7 available as the alternative option.

Rally1 crews were originally offered a maximum of 12 alternative choice tyres for this 11th round of the 2025 season, but that has now been increased to 20 at the request of manufacturers.

The amendment comes after heavy rain during reconnaissance and the potential for continued damp conditions on Chile's forest stages, circumstances that may favour the softer Dynapro R213 WRC7 compound.

"We increased the soft-tyre allocation in Chile following manufacturer feedback after recce, and this reflects our commitment to being responsive and supportive," said Steven Cho, Hankook Tire WRC Representative. "While the hard compound remains the primary choice for durability, the additional softs offer teams greater flexibility to optimise performance in changing conditions."

The update affects only Rally1 crews and maintains the overall 28-tyre limit per car for the event. All teams confirmed their tyre selections with the FIA prior to Thursday's shakedown.

Based in Concepción, the country's second-largest city, Rally Chile Bio Bío includes 306.76 kilometres of competitive action across 16 special stages.
