The Toyota UZ engine family was used by Toyota in it’s luxury offerings and sport utility vehicles. Three basic versions have been produced, the 1UZ-FE, 2UZ-FE, and 3UZ-FE. Production spanned 24 years, from 1989 to mid 2013
In 1997, Toyota introduced VVT-i variable valve timing technology to its already successful 1 UZ-FE platform which saw it voted to Ward's 10 Best Engines list for 1998 through 2000.
Featured at various times in Lexus, Toyota Tundra, 4Runner and Landcruiser the UZ platform has developed a strong following in many countries.
