Performance Damper For Nissan SR20 Engines
Fluidampr announces the release of a performance crankshaft damper for Nissan’s SR20 engine family, including the SR20DE found in 1995–1998 200SX models regaining popularity in grassroots drifting and street performance, and the SR20DET used in various turbocharged applications globally. The part number is 630931. The damper delivers superior crankshaft torsional vibration control over stock and provides greater durability and performance when engine modifications are made.
Crankshaft torsional vibration analysis was conducted by parent division and automotive original equipment damper manufacturer, Vibratech TVD at Jimmy Oakes Garage in Wallingford, CT. Testing showed an average 12% reduction in crankshaft torsional vibration across the RPM range compared to a new old stock OEM elastomer damper. “We did see improvement across the board and got a more consistent smooth line. That's one of the main goals, is not only bringing the amplitudes down but getting it to be consistent. We lost a lot of the big spikes and overall brought everything down,” explains Vibratech TVD engineer, Will Murphy to Jimmy Oakes, race car builder, famed motorsports content creator, and owner of Jimmy Oakes Garage in an associated damper development video.
The Nissan SR20 DE/DET damper measures original equipment size at six and three-eighths inches outer diameter and integrates both the inner and middle accessory drive pulleys. The outer air conditioning drive pulley is removable for race application preferences. Fluidampr performance dampers are designed to last the life of the engine. No rebuilds or tuning are required. In addition, RoHS compliant black zinc coating and laser engraved SFI 18.1 credentials maintain a quality appearance in harsh racing environments.
