ROBINS DIAMOND DUAL VALLEY CROSS-HATCH TECHNOLOGY

Robins Machines --Dual-Valley (Diamond) Surface Technology | The Next Evolution in Cylinder Bore Lubrication

For the first time in engine rebuilding, Robins Machines has developed a patent-pending cylinder bore surface that goes far beyond conventional honing -- introducing the Robins Dual-Valley (Diamond) Surface Technology.

Here is the breakthrough. Conventional honing creates a single helical crosshatch pattern where oil can follow the groove path and escape under pressure. Robins solved this by combining Plato Boring and light honing in a simple 3-step process that creates two intersecting valley systems, near-axial valleys from the Plato Bore and helical crosshatch grooves from honing, that intersect to form thousands of diamond-shaped oil pockets across the entire bore surface.

These diamond pockets trap and retain oil rather than allowing it to escape, delivering superior lubrication stability under high load.

Think of it as sitting between conventional honing and expensive OEM laser texturing, delivering high performance oil retention using proven machining processes at a practical cost.

The result: More oil retained. Better lubrication. Longer engine life.
