Sunoco Race Fuels Extends Partnership with Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) as Official Fuel Supplier Through 2028

Longstanding Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) partner Sunoco Race Fuels will continue as the Official Fuel Supplier of HSR through 2028 as part of a five-year extension announced today by officials from Sunoco, Southern Racing Fuels and HSR.

“A key part of running a successful motorsports sanctioning body is to provide your customer competitors with the best products available in the high-performance automotive sector and Sunoco Race Fuels is a perfect example of how we are able to accomplish this at HSR,” said HSR President Chris Ward. “Sunoco is part of the heritage and motorsports history that we celebrate every HSR race weekend but has also remained a contemporary leader in the all-important area of high-performance racing fuel. We have enjoyed a great relationship with Sunoco Race Fuels in the past and look forward to an even more successful partnership in the next five years and beyond.”

Established in the mid-1970s and acquired by IMSA in early 2022, HSR has been racing nearly as long as Sunoco has been providing quality performance fuels for motorsports competitors at every level. Sunoco first began to produce quality performance fuels over 50 years ago.

“The continuing long-term partnership with HSR is only going to get stronger,” said Russ Bradford, Sunoco Performance Products Sales Manager. “We have been impressed by HSR’s growth and direction the last few years and know it will continue at the same solid pace for the balance of this decade and beyond. HSR is a natural fit for Sunoco as it celebrates the heritage of the race cars we have been proud to power for many decades and we couldn’t be more excited to fuel these cars well into the future.”

The five-year renewal follows a three-year extension Sunoco, Southern Racing Fuels and HSR announced in early 2020. A division of Port Consolidated, Southern Racing Fuels has been the official distributor of Sunoco Race Fuels in Florida, the Caribbean and South America for nearly 35 years.

“From IMSA’s new ownership to Chris Ward carrying on the great work David Hinton led for more than a decade to, of course, the incredible competitors who truly make the series what it is, it is a pleasure and a privilege to be a part of HSR,” said Rick Williams, President of Southern Racing Fuels.

The 2024 HSR racing season begins with the fifth running of the HSR Spring Fling Weekend at Sebring International Raceway, March 8 – 10.

Sunoco Race Fuels advance orders for competitors at the Sebring Spring Fling opener and all season can be placed at 1-877 240-3278 or by email to Williams at Rwilliams@portconsolidated.com.
